NUDUS is a new architecture firm in Rotterdam with an extensive and impressive portfolio. NUDUS is inspired by nature, and you see that reflected in their work.
Design studio Lava designed the new brand identity. UX design agency Defigners handled the UX and website design, and Atypisch the full development on a custom WordPress install.
We built a percentage-based grid where fonts scale with the screen, an image grid that rearranges itself through an algorithm, custom components and a fully modular system inside the CMS.

01 / 06 The wordmark in an organic display face, with nature photography that carries the inspired-by-nature idea.

The whole site sits on a percentage-based grid. Not only the columns scale. Typography does too. On a 13-inch laptop it reads differently than on a large retina screen. Both stay in proportion.

03 / 06 Project overview with filter and search.

04 / 06 Featured projects. Formats decided by the algorithm.
Key visual
05 / 06 Renders and key images get a full-bleed presentation. Edge to edge, with parallax while you scroll.

The page editor in WordPress became a modular block system. Each component (quote, gallery, image pair, video, embed) has its own settings for alignment, column width and mobile behaviour. Editors see how it lands live, without thinking about CSS.
The grid system is so well thought out that we do not need a developer anymore to add new projects. That is exactly what we wanted.

Management happens fully in WordPress, with components designed for architecture projects. NUDUS adds projects, rearranges photos and types a new section without a developer.
